It all started with two oils…
My mom had gotten into essential oils when I was still in high school, and naturally, I learned from her.
When I left home, there were always two “go to” oils that I had with me wherever I went.
I mean, I always had them with me, in my purse, gym bag, or on a plane.
I’m talking about the fact that these two oils are so versatile that they were my “first aid kit".
And, they still are, although, I sometimes use variations on the theme because I know what all my options are now.
So, drumroll please…
They are Peppermint and Clove.
Ok, let’s talk about peppermint and what it can do for you.
If you have tummy distress such as indigestion, bloating, or gas, peppermint is your best friend. I like to ingest it, although some people roll it on their tummies when it’s mixed with a carrier oil.
(A carrier oil is an oil, such as Fractionated Coconut Oil, that dilutes the essential oil, making it easier to apply to a larger area, and, it also serves to dilute the essential oil for children and those with sensitive skin.)
If you need to wake up in the morning, or to be refreshed in the afternoon, you can put a drop in your tea or coffee, just breathe it in from a drop on your hands, or even put a drop on the back of your neck where your hairline is.
If you have a diffuser, you can also diffuse it into the air and just breathe it in for an uplifting experience.
And how about clove?
Have some dental issues going on and can’t get to the dentist fast enough? Apply clove directly to the area.
Feel like you’re "coming down with something"? Take a drop or two of clove in water.
It’s also a great “perk me up” oil when you’re feeling sluggish, and it’s full of antioxidants.
And, if you’ve gotten a cut, it’s loaded with cleansing power, so, if you don’t mind the sting for a few seconds, just rub a drop on to your skin.
That being said, don’t get the peppermint or clove in your eyes or other sensitive areas because it will burn.
But, I’ll always have my “go to’s” handy because they work so darn well.
